About Trinity Church

Trinity ChurchIt has been the mission of Trinity Church to live out God's will for creation in this time and in this place through its given ministries, speaking the truth of the Holy Scripture and rooted in the Trinitarian life and purposes of the one God. It has been called to be the body of Christ which has been brought into being by the work of the Spirit through the Gospel and which is sustained and maintained through the apostolic, prophetic, evangelical, pastoral, and teaching ministries which the Spirit has enabled.

Trinity Church is the oldest Episcopal parish in Illinois, established August 11, 1832. It was instrumental in the establishment of the Diocese of Illinois, part of which was to become the Diocese of Springfield. Trinity has continued for more than 172 years to be a faithful witness to the Anglican faith and order. Trinity's building and appointments are in the English Gothic style with unique stained glass windows depicting the story of the Anglican church in this location. The building, including Harris Hall, is handicapped accessible for all people.
